The city of Royal Oak is served by Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools. There are also parochial school options for students in grades K-12. 

Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools 

This school district operates one high school (Royal Oak High School), one middle school (Royal Oak Middle School) and six elementary schools. 

  • Key transportation features:  Royal Oak Schools does not offer bus transportation. The district recommends using SMART bus transportation, the public transit option for southeast Michigan.

To get started, here are two simple ways to identify bus routes for your Royal Oak school.

Royal Oak Schools keep parents informed of SMART bus routes and stops via the district website. 

  • Middle schoolers can ride the SMART Route 430 Main Street which arrives at the school at roughly 7:30 a.m. The afternoon bus leaves at 3:34 p.m. Students can board the bus at Austin and Washington. 
  • High schoolers can ride the SMART Route 430 Main Street which arrives at the school at roughly 7:40 a.m. The afternoon bus leaves at 3:15 p.m. Students can board the bus at Lexington and Crooks.
