The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, located at 11 Sheldon Ave. NE, has been open since 1997 and has served more than 3 million guests.

1. Kidstruction Zone

It’s all work and all play at this exhibit. Kids are invited to build and explore with foam bricks, PVC pipe and gravel at this construction-themed play area.

2. Diagnosis: Fun

The doctor’s in! Kids can explore healthcare-related careers at this Grand Rapids Children’s Museum exhibit, which features lab coats, X-rays for review and pretend imaging machines.

3. Toddler Time

If you’re visiting with a toddler, consider planning your trip around this fun program. Currently offered on Tuesdays, this weekly event from 10 a.m. until noon is for ages 3 and under and features different themes each week. Activities could include music, water play, other sensory fun or an art project.

4. Little Grand Rapids

What’s cooler than exploring the happening town of Grand Rapids with your family? Exploring the pint-sized version! This kid-sized town has all your favorite places, from Fox Motors to Chemical Bank.

5. Bubbles

What kid doesn’t love bubbles? Fortunately, there’s plenty of them at this exhibit. Kids can blow bubbles, pop them and even climb inside one.

6. Climbing wall

Are your kids bouncing off the walls in most museums? At this one, it’s no problem – they can even climb the wall here. Let your little ones burn off some energy at the mountain-themed climbing wall.

7. Wee Discover

This area is just for kids ages 5 and under and features a toddler climber, ball ramps and a play kitchen.

8. Open Paint

This free bonus activity is offered 2-4 p.m. on Tuesdays. Kids are invited to drop in at the Wonder Workshop for open paint to create their own masterpiece.

9. Make music

Don’t worry about your kids making too much noise here! Kids love playing with the piano at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, and you’ll also find cool instruments made from various objects that kids are welcome to experiment with.

10. Imagination Laboratory

This popular exhibit gives kids permission to get a little messy – they can splash in water, play in mud and even play with slime.
