Authenticity Guide for Parents of Transgender Kids

Parents of non-binary kids face a whole new set of child-rearing challenges. Find out some of the options you have and paths you can take.

If you found out your child didn’t fit into the gender binary, what would you do? With treatments that can involve altering your child’s hormones or surgically changing his or her body, the process of raising a happy and healthy transgender child can be really scary. Decisions should always be made between a child, parents and medical professionals, but this chart aims to help you navigate some difficult decisions.

Note: The left side of our chart, which addresses a child before the child has come out, uses he/she/his/him/her/hers pronouns. The right side of the chart shifts to use they/their/them pronouns to address the fact that a child’s preferred pronoun may change during their transition.
