My Mantra: Pick My Battles

Catherine Amano of Sterling Heights talks about the mantra that she raises her kids by and how 'pick your battles' helps keep her going when parenting gets tough.

Sterling Heights mom of two, Catherine Amano, migrated from the Philippines in 2008. Her mantra came about during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was feeling particularly overwhelmed with work in the ER, online school and caring for her husband that caught the virus.

“It piled up to the point that it was too overwhelming for me,” she says. “It came to a point where I had to do something (and) it hit me: I have to pick my battles. I can not do all of this, all at once.”
