Roeper Summer Programs

The Roeper School has been offering enriching summer camps to children since 1947. Programs are available for children ages 3-12. Camps include a Day Camp, Hybrid Day Camp + Specialty Camps, Theatre Camp, a Counselor-in-Training(CIT) program, and a Specialty Camp for middle schoolers.

Roeper camps put the campers first! Roeper’s 13-acre Bloomfield Hills campus is the setting for their summer camps offering campers the opportunity to try new things and customize their schedule, with activities taking place indoors and out. Amenities include woodlands, an athletic field, two swimming pools, three playgrounds, nature trails, and numerous buildings containing art, music and tech classrooms, gymnasium, locker rooms and lunchroom.

Roeper’s Day Camp + Specialty Camps allow campers to spend the mornings delving in-depth into select activities and the afternoons enjoying the regular camp activities. Roeper’s Theatre Camp, located on the Birmingham campus, introduces and helps campers holistically develop theatrical skills.

Cranbrook Schools offers traditional day camps and specialty camps for kids of all ages on their beautiful Bloomfield Hills campus. For years, Cranbrook Schools Summer Camps have been a tradition of fun and learning for campers of all ages. 

Hosted across the beautiful, historic campus, their hands-on summer programs offer a true Cranbrook experience through multi-activity traditional camps, specialty camps in art, robotics, sports, STEM, theater, writing, and sports camps in soccer, field hockey, ice hockey and flag football. 

Camps operate for up to eight weeks from kids age three through entering 12th grade. The camps are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Lunches and snacks are included for most camps. Transportation service, extended care, after-camp enrichments, and a monthly payment plan are available as options.

Mosaic summer camp is available for kids in Grades 3-8 allowing young artists to garner the attention and instruction they deserve at a pace that best suits their needs. 

Through theater and music games, craft projects, dance breaks, mindfulness moments and play rehearsals each session provides young artists with an opportunity to create incredible memories that will last a lifetime. At the end of each two-week session, families are invited to a special performance created by the young artists and the teaching artists. This year, Mosaic offers six two-week sessions.

Kids in grades 2-12 can enjoy this theater camp, which will be broken up by grades 2-8 (junior division) and grades 9-12 (senior division). Lunches and snacks are included.

Young People’s Theater

Perfect for young performers ready to shine on stage, Young People’s Theater campers create musical theater magic through exciting shows like “Once Upon a Time,” “AristoCats,” and “Legally Blonde.”

Theater Camp at The Roeper School

June 24-Aug. 2, 2024

Explore creative expression at The Roeper School’s Bloomfield Hills camps. Their Theater Camp offers workshops in scene work, improvisation, singing, choreography, design, directing, stage management, and writing for grades 1-3 and 3-5, with third graders choosing their group. Speak Out: Forensics Camp (ages 9-12) focuses on acting through stories, poems, plays or personal writing, culminating in a final show.

Drama Workshop at Macomb Center for the Performing Arts

This camp teaches kids to learn cooperation, concentration, movement and more in a non-competitive, welcoming environment. This workshop is put together by All The World’s Stage, which specializes in youth theatre and recognized by AuditionsHQ as one of the top ten theatre schools in Michigan.

Detroit Opera

Detroit Opera’s summer camps offer a creative stage for youths. “Create & Perform” for ages 8-12, turns kids into playwrights and stars. “Operetta Remix” for ages 13-18, hones musical theater skills. Both end in a Detroit Opera House showcase.

Livonia Community Theatre

Ready to shine? From Broadway Bound for grades 6-9, featuring a Broadway Revue, to Kids Camp for grades 2-6 with beloved shows like ANNIE and FROZEN, there’s a stage for every young star.

Performing Arts Camp

July 22-Aug. 16, 2023

Join the Performing Arts Camp in West Bloomfield Township for a summer of creativity. The four-week session (July 22-Aug. 16, 2023) for Grades 5-9 offers a full-scale theater production at $2,000. Younger participants (Grades 3-4) can join the Aug. 5-16 session for $550. Grades 1-2 can contribute to the main production alongside Theater Camp participants from Aug. 12-16 at $550.

Boll YMCA Theater Camp

While any summer camps in general can be expensive, theater camps in particular tend to run on the pricier side. The Boll YMCA theater camp is an exception, and kids still get a world class theater camp experience that culminates in a performance at the Marlene Boll Theatre.
