Boys & Girls Clubs’ Planet Fitness Kids Gym 

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan teamed up with Planet Fitness to offer kids a local “judgement-free” gym that is full of same equipment offered at any planet fitness — right down to the yellow and purple color scheme. There’s a 10-person limit at all times.

Carls Family YMCA in Milford

Downriver Family YMCA in Southgate

With an extensive outdoor aquatic facility, this Y is a great summer destination filled with water slides, a splash area and more. In colder weather, head indoors to work out in the gym or swim some laps. Relax in the dry-heat sauna. Beyond youth sports, there’s martial arts, volleyball and kids rock climbing.

Esporta Fitness

Farmington Family YMCA

Flat Rock Community Center

Find a big gymnasium where you can borrow a basketball and shoot some hoops. The six-lane competitive pool features a waterslide and zero-depth entry. Sign up for swim lessons or just check out open swim. Also offers a fitness room with free weights machines, fitness classes such as yoga and cardio drumming. Be sure to check out the activities and camps for kids.

Franklin Athletic Club

Offers a youth dance program. Also has a slew of kids’ classes such as basketball, martial arts, swimming and more. Check out the camps for kids and even programs for toddlers. This spot also has a preschool, Franklin Academy Preschool, they have swimming and tennis every week, music, gym, dance and yoga. For those that are unsure about purchasing a membership, try a five-day free trail before making the commitment.

Hamburg Fitness Center & Camp

HYPE Recreation Center

This Wayne County spot offers free fitness assessments, free fitness classes, including a women’s-only boot camp, kids Get Fit class and more. Plus, take advantage of two hours of free daily day care (ages 1-5), free tutoring and more.

HYPE Wayne Western Recreation Center

Jack E. Kirksey Livonia Recreation Center

Jewish Community Center of West Bloomfield

Its executive-level members gain access to private, top-notch locker rooms that feature whirlpools, a steam room/sauna and towel service. Facilities are accessible for those with special needs, with one of the outdoor pools specially designed for the handicapped. The indoor pool and track is temporarily closed right now due to COVID-19.

LA Fitness in southeast Michigan

Northville Parks and Recreation

Richard A. Young Recreation Center in Dearborn Heights 

For a low-key community gym that offers all the fitness equipment you’ll need, try this facility. It offers an indoor walking program, fitness classes Karate and Pickleball. There are also several community events throughout the year, like daddy-daughter and mother-son dances.

South Oakland Family YMCA in Royal Oak

This neighborhood fitness facility has programs to get both kids and adults active while having fun. Visit the website to search for the perfect fits for your family.

Summit on the Park in Canton

Troy Community Center
