Hatch Mama Belly Mask is a Facial for Your Pregnant Belly

Reduce stretch marks and give your growing belly a facial at the same time with this product. Is it weird or wonderful?

When you’re pregnant, you worry about everything. Are you eating enough fruits and veggies, drinking enough water, getting enough exercise and so on. The last thing you want to worry about is getting stretch marks – but for many women, they are inevitable.

While there are all types of lotions, oils, creams, balms and other products that are said to reduce them, none of those will guarantee to fully prevent these marks from making an appearance – or get rid of them post-baby.

But there just might be a way to keep those pesky marks at bay – at least according to fellow parenting website Babble. These folks post the hottest products and trends for parents, and their latest – and one of the most unusual – is a belly mask for pregnant moms.

It’s called the Hatch Mama Belly Mask, and according to the description on its site, it’s supposed “to help minimize stretch marks during pregnancy and help soften inflamed scar tissue postpartum.”

Oh, and this hydrating mask has a random winking eye on it – which we find weird and sort of creepy.

How long should you wear the belly mask? “The rule of thumb for sheet masks is to leave them on for 20 minutes max – enough to deliver key ingredients but before the mask starts to dry,” Bustle reports. But those are for your face, so, does that mean that you can only wear this mask for less than 20 minutes on your belly, too? Hatch’s website doesn’t tell us specifically how long we can leave this mask on.

The site also doesn’t tell us how many times a week this product should be used. How do we know what’s safe and what isn’t when it comes to applying this mask on a growing belly?

Does it even work? So far, we haven’t had luck finding any reviews on this $12 facial for your tummy.

And, at 12 bucks a pop, this sheet mask could get pretty pricey depending on how often it should be applied. With regular lotions, butters and oils, mamas can lather their tummies daily to prevent or reduce marks – at a lower cost. If this mask was a one-time thing, the $12 might be worth it. But daily? We don’t think so.

What do you think of this belly mask? Would you use it? Tell us in the comments below.
