Santa’s got a brand new getup that’s sure to be a hit with the kids keen on not-so-mainstream subculture. “Hipster Santa” was recently at Pioneer Place mall in Portland, Oregon, and he’s probably the most unique variation of the Jolly Ol’ Elf I’ve ever seen.
Set up at the downtown mall, Hipster Santa sits upon his swanky mod couch surrounded by cross-stitch art, a tinsel tree and a typewriter. Kids can have their picture taken with this Santa, who wears stylish black-rimmed frames, a vintage-inspired cardigan over a flannel shirt, black jeans and even a man bun, as seen in the photos from news outlet KOIN 6.
According to the news video shared by Laughing Squid, Hipster Santa even rides his bike when not delivering toys on his sleigh.
I think this is a lot of fun. I’m sure the photos parents get out of the visit are refreshing because they don’t look like the traditional images snapped every year with run-of-the-mill Santa.
When he’s not taking pictures with the kiddies of Portland? I imagine this Santa switching out the cow’s milk for almond milk (or maybe a PBR?) and eating kale chips in place of cookies – all while listening to indie Christmas music on vinyl. Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind kicking it with this Santa?
What do you think of Portland, Oregon’s Hipster Santa? Is this a cool spin on a classic Christmas figure or just plain stupid? Tell us what you think in the comments!
