Teens Use Shot Glasses on Lips for Kylie Jenner Challenge

Just when you thought teenage girls couldn’t get any dumber, the Kylie Jenner Challenge comes along. #KylieJennerChallenge started trending on Twitter and Instagram on Sunday, according to Mashable, and a whole slew of teenagers sucked on shot glasses and plastic bottles in an effort to achieve the reality star’s puffy pout. Teens who took the challenge – some posting videos and other posting photos to social media – have swollen lips and bruises around their mouths as a result.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know that Kylie’s lips have been under a lot of scrutiny lately. Does she really just over-line them or has she had them medically pumped up? The 17-year-old says they are au natural, and honestly, it doesn’t really matter. If she did actually get them plumped up, and if she wasn’t happy with how she looked and she wanted to change her appearance, then fine. But own it. Own it so that young, impressionable girls know that they can’t truly achieve those plump lips without help from a bit of collagen.

Teenagers will forever want to emulate reality stars, actors, singers and models. It’s something that I don’t think will change any time soon. We all had our moments, right? But this challenge is an example of how the desire to look like someone else can really get out of hand.
