The Detroit Lions’ preseason is roaring, and families all around Michigan are starting to feel the football energy. That makes it the perfect time to look into the Detroit Lions Cub Club — the team’s very own children’s fan club for kids 14 and younger.

The Cub Club, led by the Detroit Lions mascot Roary, promises exclusive experiences and merch for your football-obsessed little ones. Continue reading below to find out all of the membership perks and how to enroll for the 2025-26 season.

Membership benefits of the Cub Club

The Cub Club provides a long list of special offers that your kids will love:

  • A welcoming package of Lions-themed merch, including a youth football, mirrored sunglasses and a bucket hat featuring Roary the Lion
  • Invitations to Cub Club special events 
  • Special access to the UMCU (University of Michigan Credit Union) Cub Club Fan Cave for home games, open until the end of halftime at Ford Field in Section 234 
  • Quarterly Cub Club newsletters

Special football events available for kids

The special events and activities offered through Cub Club membership are a prime highlight of the fan club. Here are some of the featured events:

  • Cub Club Halloween Party: In October, costumed Cubs Club members can take photos with Detroit Lions players, pass a football with Roary the Lion and play Halloween-themed games on Ford Field. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of candy for trick-or-treating as well. The event is set for the night of Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.
  • Cub Club Family Movie Night: Members and their families can watch a movie and play games on Ford Field in December 2025, complete with face paint and other holiday season festivities.
  • Cub Club Youth Football Clinic: In August, youth football players come together for hands-on training from team officials and competitive playing on Ford Field. Though the 2025 event has passed, it is a typical Cub Club perk that is likely to return in 2026.
  • Training Camp Cub Club Day: The Detroit Lions Training Camp during the summer season has a special day for Cub Club members to get their merch autographed and witness the earliest parts of the upcoming season. Watch for this event to return in 2026.
