Easy Noodle Recipes for Kids

Simple, slightly chewy and fun to eat – no wonder noodles are a kid favorite. And not just in the U.S., kids are noodle fans all over the world (think Asian and European noodle dishes). Versatile noodles are simple to make at home with a homemade pasta recipe (you knead and cut them yourself). Use homemade or store-bought noodles in homemade chicken noodle soup. For a hearty dinner, put together classic beef stroganoff or chicken and vegetable stir-fry with udon noodles. Cook your noodles by making either a creamy chicken noodle bake or broccoli cheddar noodle pie. Try one of these easy noodle recipes at home with your kids.

Homemade Pasta

A few simple ingredients go into this homemade pasta from The Pioneer Woman. Mix together eggs and flour until it forms a ball. Time to start rolling! Fold over the dough and roll – repeat. And repeat again. Cut the thinned dough into noodles. Boil until cooked through.

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Noodles lap up broth, which is one reason why this homemade chicken noodle soup from Country Living is so divine. You can start with a whole chicken – or use rotisserie or leftover chicken to put into the soup. Sauté diced celery, onions and carrots until soft. Now it’s time to assemble: Place chicken pieces, vegetables and seasonings in a large pot along with broth. Bring to a simmer and then ladle into bowls.

Classic Beef Stroganoff

On a cold, snowy day there’s nothing quite like this classic beef stroganoff from Betty Crocker. Heat diced mushrooms, onions, garlic and butter in a skillet until tender. Pour the mushroom mixture onto a plate and cook thin-cut beef in the same pan. Add in beef broth and seasonings. Simmer with a slurry of more broth thickened with flour. Stir the mushrooms back into the beef along with sour cream. Serve over egg noodles.

Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry with Udon Noodles

Thick and chewy, Asian udon noodles make for a hearty, satisfying meal. Start this chicken and vegetable stir-fry with udon noodles from The Food Network by heating chicken thighs in sesame oil and soy sauce. Remove the chicken and then saute diced green onions, finely chopped garlic and grated ginger. Add in vegetables and rice wine vinegar. Pour the chicken mixture over udon noodles.

Creamy Chicken Noodle Bake

This creamy chicken noodle bake from Taste of Home comes together quickly. Begin by cooking egg noodles. Place the noodles, diced chicken, milk, jarred gravy, butter and diced pimentos into a casserole dish. Bake for 30 minutes and then add cubed chicken on top with breadcrumbs. Bake again until it’s crisped.

Broccoli Cheddar Noodle Pie

Noodles in a pie? That’s the idea behind this broccoli cheddar noodle pie from Delish. In a skillet, heat together chopped onions and garlic in butter. Sprinkle with flour and cook. Whisk in heavy cream and chicken broth, heating just until a simmer. In a bowl, stir together the onions, sauce, noodles and broccoli. Pour into a pan along with beaten eggs. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and bake. Pie time!
