Craft Roundup: Back to School DIY Projects

My nephew started his very first week of kindergarten last week in Indiana – I can’t believe it’s school season already! While we’re still not quite in full school mode back here in metro Detroit, it’s definitely on the horizon. Some of my favorite bloggers are already on the case, coming up with some adorable – and handy – craft projects to help ring the school bell for a new year.

Back to School Teacher Gift

In addition to bringing an apple for your teacher on the first day of class, why not make something for his or her desk? This cute chalk-painted pencil holder, from Mom Endeavors, is something you and your student can work on together before the big day.

A Back-to-School DIY

Continuing with the chalkboard theme, this classic notebook gets a makeover thanks to Warm Hot Chocolate. Just a bit of paint turns an average notebook into a personalized masterpiece.

Back-to-School Lunch Bag

If you’re looking for a lunch tote that’s more on the simple side of design, take a look at Purl Bee‘s DIY version. A simple bag can be made and embellished with some cute food-themed embroidery.

First Day of School Photos

I love this trend – does your family? Have fun with the sign your children use to show off the grade they’re in by playing with shapes, like this talk bubble from Skip to My Lou.

Back to School Teacher Gift

Your teacher won’t mind this type of glue to eat! A playful twist on paste and glue sticks, this project from The Celebration Shoppe can be downloaded and made before the first day.
