Darby Smart Subscription Kits for Parents and Kids, Too

There are usually at least a few craft-based subscription box deliveries arriving at our house each month, from DIY greeting cards to holiday-themed kits. I love the variety of craft subscription services offered today. There’s something for everyone in the family, no matter the age or skill level. Still doing a great job of that is Darby Smart. The subscription service recently launched kid-friendly boxes in addition to their regular line of more grown-up offerings. There are a lot of choices right now, and I’m excited to say I got to try a few of them.

First up is the Frosted Holiday Glitter Mug set. Keep right on trend with using mason jars as everyday drinking glasses, this kit works for both grown-ups and kids – and would be especially fun as a holiday family craft project.

The kit arrives with four mason jar mugs, lots of sparkly white craft glitter, white craft paint, a circular foam applicator and dishwasher-friendly Mod Podge. Priced at $22, the cute mugs and Mod Podge are reason enough to pick up the kit! It doesn’t take long to decorate the mugs. Start with the white paint, add some glitter and let the pieces dry before adding a coat of Mod Podge.

… the Santa’s Milk & Cookies set. For just $10 you get retro-looking milk bottles and holiday cookie cutters to create an impressive snack offering for Santa’s arrival.
White letting the mason jar mugs dry, we worked on the Dolly’s Sleeping Bag set. You might be confused at first when you open the box and see paint, a fluffy pot holder and a plain muslin bag.

But not to worry! The bag, after the drawstring is removed, turns into a cushy pillow once cotton balls are added. The craft paint is used to decorate the potholder that conveniently doubles as a sleeping bag for smaller dolls, like The Count, and stuffed animals.

… the Chalkboard Holiday Ornaments. Following the chalkboard paint trend, this kit comes with six ornaments that your family can personalize for this year’s tree or to give as gifts to teachers, coaches, etc.
… the Hanukkah Menorah. A set of plain wooden blocks and hardware store staples transform into a modern interpretation of a holiday classic.

During the holiday days off, keep an eye on Darby Smart’s printables section. These free downloads can be used for last-minute gifts or lazy-day projects.
