Everyone did a lot of adjusting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Restaurants started serving curb-side, bars were able to sell drinks to go and we saw the second rise of the drive-in movie theater.
And while some things are getting back to pre-pandemic practices, it looks like the drive-in might be around for a while longer — perhaps permanently, if we’re lucky.
Here, we’ve rounded up some drive-in spots that are playing kid-friendly movies during the fall of 2021. Check it out to find an option near you and treat your kids to some old-school fun.
Ford Drive-In
- Address: 10400 Ford Road, Dearborn
- Cost: $12.50/adult, $5/kids under 12, free/kids under 5
Now playing movies such as Malignant (R), The Suicide Squad (R), Candyman (R), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (PG-13) and others.
Macomb County Drive-In Movies
- Address: Freedom Hill County Park, 15000 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights
- Cost: $25/car
September brings big kid titles like Hocus Pocus and Hotel Transylvania 2. Adult options include A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, Halloween and The Cabin in the Woods. Watch for musical performances before some shows, too.
Summer Drive-In at USA Hockey Arena
- Address: USA Hockey Arena, 14900 Beck Road, Plymouth
- Cost: $10/adults, $8/kids
Kid-friendly flicks in September are Free Guy (PG-13), Paw Patrol: The Movie (G) and Jungle Cruise (PG-13). Closes for the season on Sept. 5, so get there early in the month.
The 15 Mile Drive-In Theater
- Address: 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield
- Cost: $10/adults, $8/kids
Fleece and Thank You, Friendship Circle and the Jewish Community Center have teamed up to offer drive-in flicks on a giant, 55-foot pop-up screen. Check them out on Facebook to keep up with the latest options.
