In-person events are back! Make Mom feel special this Mother’s Day with a party to celebrate her style.

Macomb, Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw counties are full of Mother’s Day events that are sure to fit any mom’s taste. Some of the events fall on Mother’s Day, which is May 8, 2022, others happen before the big day, and some require registration, so be sure to check in advance.

Moms ‘n’ Marshmallows at Stony Creek Metropark

Bring your mom out to this pre-Mother’s Day celebration to relax around the campfire and enjoy some stories and yummy s’mores! For all ages. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. May 6.

Mother’s Day Tea at Wolcott Mill Metropark Farm Center

May 8, 2022

Bring your mom out to the farm’s greenhouse to enjoy a tea and light snacks surround by the beautiful sights and smells of the spring flowers in bloom. All moms will receive a special plant to take home, too! For ages 5 and up. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. a week before the program.

Walk-A-Mom at Stony Creek Metropark

May 8, 2022

Families can enjoy a spring hike on the trails with mom or grandma and take time with the wildflowers that are starting to bloom. Choose the nature trail of your choice to enjoy and be sure to stop by the nature center to get a certificate. All moms and grandmothers receive a flower to plant a home. Pre-registration is not required.

Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon at Meadow Brook Hall

May 6, 2022

Mothers and daughters enjoy an exquisite three-course luncheon at the Great Estate. The luncheon will include live musical entertainment, wine services, a self-guided tour of the historical mansion and a flower for mom.

Mother’s Day Hike at Indian Springs Metropark

May 8, 2022

Visit Indian Springs Metropark for a special hike along their nature trails and learn about the wildlife along the way in honor of Mother’s Day. Bring binoculars. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. May 7.

Mother’s Day Walk at Kensington Metropark in Milford 

May 8, 2022

Join trail guides at the Kensington Metropark Nature Center for an hour-long guided walk to see what resident animals and plants are up to in the spring. Wildflowers and birds will be in their spring glory. Look for bird’s nests in the trees and on the ground, and identify birds that are singing and calling to one another. This program is entirely outdoors. Pre-registration required by 4 p.m. May 7.

Royal Oak in Bloom

This annual flower and garden sale offers flowers, plants and landscaping items. Nearly 70 vendors attend, selling everything from perennials to copper sprinklers, annuals to trees, tomato plants to wind chimes, porch swings to etched stones

Celebrate Mom with a Hudson Mills Metropark tradition! Enjoy a half-mile guided hike along the Acorn Nature Trail in search of spring flowers. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. May 6.

Show Her Love: Candles, Charcuterie & Live Music

At this event geared towards Mothers Day, participants will enjoy candle making, charcuterie, live string music, hand massages, flowers and more brought to you by Bougie Perfumee and Modern Maison Co. Guests will create a signature scent with essential oils and pour their own candle made from 100% organic soy wax. Each guest will receive one candle pour, a mocktail, chocolate-covered strawberries and an individual charcuterie box.

Mother’s Day Matinee with Emagine Theaters

May 7, 2022

Moms and kids can enjoy a movie matinee at The Ultimate Ladies Night. Tickets include a private screening, popcorn, drink, raffle ticket and a special gift from the host. Facemasks are required.

The Midwife Comedy Dinner Theater at International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit

May 7-8, 2022

Adults enjoy a night out together the day before Mother’s Day. Dinner will be provided. A brunch on Mother’s Day proper is also available.

Women Walking Woodward for Peace at Grand Circus Park in Detroit: A Vigil

May 8, 2022

Mothers, sisters, daughters and aunts demonstrate annually to declare and affirm that women will not support raising children to kill other mothers’ children. This pro-peace vigil celebrates activism, justice-seeking and woman-centered visioning. Signs and banners will be provided but groups are also welcome to bring their own.
