No-Sew DIY Cotton Laminate Bibs for Babies

Have you seen MYdrap napkins? I had the chance to actually check them out in person at Hugh in Detroit and was amazed. These cloth napkins arrive perforated on a roll – just rip one off when you need one. From placemats to coasters, MYdrap is great for last-minute guests or forgotten party needs.

With that in mind, why not make something like this for bibs when you and your baby are out and about? This week, we’re making cotton laminate quick bibs stored on an empty paper towel tube. These no-sew bibs are fast to make and handy, thanks to a laminated, wipeable front and a soft, cotton back.

Materials

  • Cotton laminate fabric (try your favorite local fabric store or PurlSoho.com)
  • Bib template (click image at right to download and print out)
  • Paper towel roll
  • Rubber bands
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Self-adhesive Velcro dots

Instructions

1. Start by downloading and cutting out your bib template. Now is the time to measure your baby’s neck to adjust the size of the bib. Trace the template onto the cotton part of the fabric. Cut the bib out.
2. On one bib end on the laminate front, apply one of the Velcro dots. Place the corresponding Velcro mate on top and attach to the cotton back of the other bib end.
3. Next, cut an empty paper towel holder to match the width of the bib.
4. Roll your completed bibs onto the paper towel holder and secure each end with a rubber band.

5. Extra tips: Instead of scissors, try pinking shears for a different look. If you’re worried about the Velcro dots coming off, apply a small amount of glue to each.
