Downtown Detroit is the place to be during the Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekend, which runs Feb. 7-9, 2020.
This event, which was formerly known at the Meridian Winter Blast, has so much to offer including snowboarding, ice skating, a zip line, marshmallow roasting and more.
The most popular attraction at this event is the Winter Slide, which stands at 30-feet high and drops you at 20 mph at a 40-degree angle.
There will also be tons of musical entertainment for parents and kids. Throughout the event, families can catch live performances by some local talents including Leaving Lifted, The Fernwoods, Alise King, Nick Juno and many others.
This event will have loads of food for everyone attending in the form of the Kroger Food Truck Rally, so if you get hungry during your visit, you will have lots of dining options including Baked Delicious, Imperial Ferndale, Niko’s Gyros and The Lobster Truck. There will be multiple marshmallow roasting stations at the event as well (must purchase kits).
Of course family favorite activities are returning in 2020, including free ice skating at Campus Martius Park and the Zipline Adventure, which has you soaring 34 feet above the ground.
In addition, families will find crafts and an ice sculpture garden. Plus a polar plunge to support the Special Olympics.
Admission to the this event is free but some fees may apply for some activities.
Event times are as follows:
- 5-11 p.m. Friday
- 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday
- 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday
