'Rapunzel' the Musical in Northville

Long blond locks take over the Marquis Theatre stage in Northville as its cherished chidlren’s version of Rapunzel raises the curtain on Aug. 1, 2011. The troupe keeps true to the storyline, but adds singing, dancing and a few extra characters.

"This will be the third time we’ve done Rapunzel in the 33 years we’ve been here," says Christina Zayti, co-producer at the theater her mother founded. "We make sure there’s a lot of interaction with the audience and jokes for the little ones – as well as adults!" That enchants the littlest theatergoers, especially: "We have the kids standing, and by the time the characters come off stage and into the audience, they are thrilled."

Marquis shows are geared for kids as young as 3, so it’s perfect for the entire family. This show offers multiple performances through Sunday, Sept. 25. Tickets are $8.50, and show times vary. See the Metro Parent listing for more on Rapunzel at the Marquis!
