Where your kiddo can drop off their letter to Santa in metro Detroit

You’ve got an important letter to deliver! Check out this list of spots where you can find Santa’s mailbox around metro Detroit during the 2025 Christmas season.

Their letter is signed, sealed and decorated with puddles of glitter and stickers. Inside are their wishes and dreams of gifts they hope to see under the tree come Christmas morning. Now, to send it off. Time is ticking, but don’t worry! We’ve scoped out where to find Santa’s bright, red mailboxes across metro Detroit this year. 

Does your kid not have a letter written yet? Don’t stress. There are a few ongoing letter writing events around Detroit you can stop by to get it done. 

For completed letters

Berkeley Public Library

Drop your letters off at the receptacle outside, anytime before Christmas day. Also, be on the lookout for a little elf friend helping out around the library. What kind of mischief might they get up to?!

Campus Martius Park

You may have missed the tree lighting, but you can still find Santa’s red mailbox by the giant tree at the heart of Detroit’s downtown. Stick around for ice skating, surrounded by festive holiday lighting and music. Also, be sure to take advantage of the brand new, glass-enclosed heated lounge.

  • Hours: 11 a.m.- 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday, Nov. 22-Jan. 4

Delta Township: North Pole Express Mailbox

Delta Township is once again collecting letters for Santa from Dec. 1-Dec. 18; a shorter drop-off period this year. Find the mailbox on the south side of the Delta Township Administration Building.

  • Hours: Anytime, Dec. 1 – Dec. 18

Detroit Historical Museum

The museum is sending letters up to Santa until Dec. 22, 2025. Their iconic giant red mailbox should be right inside the front doors. And while you’re there, consider visiting their holiday exhibit: Hudson’s Holidays, for a nostalgic trip to Christmas’ past, running until Jan. 5, 2026.

  • Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday 

Hazel Park Recreation Center

The Hazel Park Rec Department has set up a mailbox outside of the recreation center. Drop off your completed letters anytime from Dec. 1 -Dec. 18. Quick deadline for this one too!

Northfield Township Community Center

Now through Dec. 13, drop off your letters at the Northfield Township Community Center. Remember to include your address, phone number and email to help the Postal Elves. It all wraps up with the community’s Christmas Tree Lighting & Twinkle the Town event. Consider attending and dropping off your letters then!

Just Smash It: Smash Burgers and Brunch 

Your favorite burger joint is now accepting letters to Santa! Stop by their Detroit location and find the bright, red mailbox inside. A few lucky winners will receive some special gifts. And, maybe pick up a jalapeño burger and cajun fries on your way out.

Local Santa letter-writing events 

Bowen: Detroit Public Library 

Until Dec. 23, 2025, stop by the Bowen location of the Detroit Public Library anytime during open hours and use their provided supplies to write your letter. Then, drop it off in their special mailbox. It’s a great free, stressless option!

  • Hours: 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and noon-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Dec. 9-23

Hudson’s for the Holidays

The plaza on Nick Gilbert Way has been decorated for Christmas, with lots of festive programming. Among them, Santa’s Magic Mailbox, run by Mrs. Claus and her elves. Kids can craft letters with provided supplies, then drop them off right then and there.

  • Hours: 4-8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, noon-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 6-Jan. 4

Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill

Write and drop off a letter to Santa as part of the orchard’s Santa Experience! Ticket purchase is required, but all children 2 and under enter free with an adult ticket. Your ticket purchase also includes: a visit with Santa, 1 Donut & Cup of Cold/Hot Cider or Hot Chocolate, a toy from Santa’s basket, and supplies for kids crafts. Open until Dec. 21.
