Great southeast Michigan fairs and festivals go hand-in-hand with the autumn season – and the South Lyon Area Pumpkinfest is no exception. This year, celebrate the colorful, crunchy leaves and cooler temps with pumpkin-themed festivities at the annual October festival, which returns Sept. 28-30, 2018.
The Pumpkinfest, sponsored by Vibe Credit Union, kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday with a biergarten for mom and dad and some entertainment on the main stage.
The family fun ramps up at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Pumpkinfest Parade, touting a theme of Island Paradise. Runners in the Pumpkinfest 5k will lead the parade.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m., find the activity, game and merchant booths. Kids will definitely enjoy the carnival-style games. Swing by Bartlett Elementary School for the arts and crafts show, too, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
Sunday brings some unique fun. Come by at 1 p.m. Sunday for a pie-eating contest on the Pumpkinfest Family Stage. Kids ages 6-9 and 10-13 can participate!
Saturday and Sunday, families will find entertainment, including The Ultimate Air Dogs, music and family-friendly acts. Kids will really enjoy the inflatables provided by Wonder Jump, which will also be bringing photo booths and a dunk tank this year.
Entry to the three-day event is free. Enjoy it 6-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
