For more than 30 years, Zingerman’s Delicatessen in Ann Arbor has fed metro Detroit with Jewish deli staples, specialty grocery items and surprising flavors. If you’ve passed by the delicatessen, you’ve likely seen people lining up for massive sandwiches, classic deli sides and indulgent sweet treats.
Quick details about Zingerman’s Deli
- Address: 422 Detroit St., Ann Arbor
- Hours: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily
- Cost: $$
The demand for Zingerman’s famous deli offerings has only increased over the years, and many guests wait around 30-40 minutes for their made-to-order sandwiches. Luckily, Zingerman’s market helps you forget about your rumbling tummy. The market carries specialty groceries, unique items and quirky snacks for families to browse while they wait.
Once your order is ready, you can enjoy your meal in either indoor or outdoor cafeteria-style seating. My personal tip is to order a sandwich, a side and a dessert; the portions are so large that you’ll end up taking enough leftovers for a second meal, and you’ll be happy you had a chance to try a little bit of everything on the menu.
Zingerman’s Deli menu highlights for families
Zingerman’s is a great option for a tasty family meal with quaint, old-school style. The deli offers hundreds of delicious meal combos and I haven’t sampled them all — but I’m working on it! Here’s a quick look at just a handful of family-friendly items on the menu.
No. 2 Reuben
First timers can’t go wrong with the famous No. 2 Reuben. The sandwich is piled high with corned beef, Swiss Emmental cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing on hand-sliced rye bread from the Zingerman’s Bakehouse.
Kids’ sandwiches
Many grown ups can’t finish their massive Zingerman’s sandwiches, which means smaller tummies don’t stand a chance against the deli’s heaping portions! Luckily, Zingerman’s has a children’s menu with kid-sized deli sammies, grilled cheese, PB&J and hot dogs. Make it a meal deal and enjoy a pudding cup and juice box with your sandwich.
Scrumptious deli sides
Come for the sandwiches, stay for the scrumptious sides! Zingerman’s carries a full offering of traditional Jewish deli sides, from latkes and knish to noodle kugel and rice pudding. You’ll also find delicious takes on classic deli offerings, like potato salad, coleslaw and more.
Indulgent desserts
Pro tip: Take some of your meal to go so you can save room for dessert! Seriously, you won’t want to miss out on trying Zingerman’s brownies, cake or pie. The pecan pie is a fan favorite, and the deli offers yummy allergy-friendly treats, too.
Monthly specials
Switch up your go-to Zingerman’s order by trying one of the monthly specials. Each month, the deli offers a new specialty sandwich, cake, and bread option, along with other rotating specials.
