Teens Can Learn to Create Short Films at this Free Workshop

Y Arts Detroit is offering a free short-film workshop for teens to build engagement for their upcoming spring film festival.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is hosting a free short film workshop for teenagers ages 12-18 on Saturday, Oct. 12. The workshop will be held at Jim’s Community Corner in Ferndale.

Hosted by Y Arts Detroit, the Arts and Humanities Branch of the  MCA of Metropolitan Detroit, the free two-hour workshop is open to all teens interested in video production and short film creation. Teens will learn basic photography and video skills and practice putting these technical skills to use to tell important stories. 

Workshop participants are encouraged to use their new creative skills to enter the upcoming Detroit Can Film Festival in spring 2025. Film festival prizes include gift cards, scholarships and more.
